Aligning NDCs with LTS: The NDC Process and the Global Stocktake
Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long Term Strategies (LTS) are at the heart of climate planning for many countries. In 2025, countries will submit updated NDCs to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) highlighting their new or updated goals to reach commitments outlined in the Paris Agreement.
This year, GCAP, in partnership with the UNFCCC, will bring members together for the first global workshop since the pandemic. Focusing on NDCs and LTS, the global workshop will support countries in aligning their NDCs with long-term goals and provide pathways for planning, implementing, and financing those commitments. Leading up to the workshop, this webinar series will highlight key elements of the NDC and LTS processes as well as share experiences from policymakers around the world.
The first webinar in our series dives into the 2025 NDC updates and shares outcomes from the first global stocktake to assess global progress towards meeting the goals of the Paris agreement. Our speakers also share experiences from the NDC and LTS planning process in Nigeria and discuss lessons learned. This session ends with a Q&A with the audience.
