Climate finance training for Africa LEDS Partnership members

Location: Casablanca, Morocco
Partners: giz

The Africa LEDS Partnership (AfLP) is pleased to announce a new training opportunity available to members. In December this year, in collaboration with other organizations, the AfLP will be providing a three day training program on climate finance, taking place in Casablanca, Morocco, open to climate finance practitioners from the region, and delivered by leading experts in the field.

Based around GIZ’s ‘Ready for Climate Finance’ course, this training will help technical staff and decision makers from across African and Arab countries to navigate the complexity of international climate finance, and identify ways to enhance their countries’ climate finance readiness. It will cover four key dimensions for dealing with climate finance:

  • Carrying out strategic planning and developing policy;
  • Accessing sources of international climate finance;
  • Ensuring effective and transparent spending and implementation; and
  • Promoting private sector engagement.

The training will be conducted in English, by bilingual trainers, and direct interpretation into French will be available throughout. All travel, subsistence, and accommodation costs will be covered by the organisers, making this training completely free to eligible AfLP members.

Eligibility

We are looking for 20-30 participants from the AfLP to participate in this training. Specifically, those involved with the development and implementation of low emission development strategies and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in particular those working in Nationally Designated Authorities (NDAs) or Focal Points for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and/or Adaptation Fund (AF), who are in a position to apply the learning gained within national or subnational policy contexts as part of their substantive role.

If you fit these criteria, please sign up here. The deadline for submitting the application is Wednesday 19th October 2016, and the AfLP will be in touch with successful applicants within 7 days of this date.
